Mind - 01

Once my schedule shifts into summer mode, I try to capture a variety of random ideas and thoughts into a weekly brain dump.

  • This past Monday eclipsed three years on this blogging journey. It’s had its highs and its lows (blogging three times in three months…total!), but it’s been an incredible experience. Here’s to a new season of fresh ideas and blogging schedule.
  • Kara and I leave for Florida a week from today to cross Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins off our MLB bucket list. Can’t believe we get to have these type of experiences.
  • I’m in the middle of “Who Made God?: And Answers to Over 100 Other Tough Questions of Faith” by Norman Geisler and Ravi Zacharias. If you’re looking for great content to help navigate some of the big, hairy questions of faith, this is a great resource to have.
  • Lately I’ve been going through some serious growing pains in ministry, but the end result will be worth it. Sure, the growing hurts a lot now, but I’m bettin’ the farm that God’s not done with me yet… and that’s why I’m more excited than ever to be where God has me.
  • If you haven’t caught the latest news from Egypt, there is some significant turmoil brewing there. Pray for the churches and believers caught right in the middle of this unrest.
  • Do yourself a favor and enjoy tomorrow. It’s Independence Day. Be free. Be thankful. Be with people who can celebrate and make great memories with you. I’m planning on turning off my email and being present with Kara for the entire day.
  • Props to Brad Stevens, the new head coach of the Boston Celtics. Stevens took a “what’s their name?” school from Indy and put them through into perennial contention over the past five years. He deserves a shot at the big time in Boston, which will be a completely different team this next year but I don’t think it’ll stay that way for long under Stevens.
  • We played shaving cream whiffle ball after youthcrossing at Mid Rivers last night. That was easily one of the highlights of my week. I love our students and I love that I get to do what I do.
