Mind - 01

Once my schedule shifts into summer mode, I try to capture a variety of random ideas and thoughts into a weekly brain dump.

  • Tuesday night was Redneck Red Carpet, our summer party for youth @ Mid Rivers. Three months of dreaming, planning, number crunching, and selfless volunteering by our Mid Rivers leaders and youth staff evolved into a very memorable night for our students.
  • One of the greatest opportunities I have as a pastor is to invite other voices and opinions into how I pastor others. Wisdom is leaning into the experience and collective wisdom of mentors. You’re hurting your future by not inviting mentors into your perspective.
  • Mosaic LA is getting ready to launch their latest film Free. I love the premise and artistry of it already. Some of the most secure prisons in the world are in our minds.
  • Less than three weeks until our new ministry year kicks off here at The Crossing. Body Life, Explorations, Newcomers Dinners, fall kickoff for youthcrossing, small groups for youth unite again, and countdown til Christmas at The Crossing. There are so many great reasons to be excited heading into the fall.
  • Kara and I are hoping to head to Boston, New York, Dallas, and Houston in September to cross off three of our five remaining MLB stadiums. We’re so close and God’s blessed us so much with our trips. It’s kind of bittersweet to be bringing this journey to a close.
  • Everyone can benefit from learning how to tell stories well. Matt Besser, founding member of Upright Citizens Brigade, shares some of his wisdom about storytelling. This is gold.
  • It’s never too late to become involved in ministry. Moses was 80 when he went back to Egypt.
